As the Saying Goes, ‘Everything is Bigger’ With This Floral Color Palette

For this Texas-born bride to be, she stuck with a popular Texas saying - "everything is bigger In Texas" for some inspiration from giant, colorful floral arrangements from Aseial Design which were just bursting with color to a stunning Monique Lhuillier ball gown. When it came to the venue, it took a few attempts and a bit of searching throughout California to find The Ritz Carlton, Half Moon Bay which turned out to be the perfect choice for this colorful soiree. Take a look below and see how Catherine Hall Studios captured every color, every detail, every moment!

6 Ways Fashion Girls Are Wearing Fall Trends IRL

If you feel like we've been talking about fall trends nonstop for the past few weeks, you'd be right, but if you're looking for an apology, this will not be it. Truthfully, this year's top picks are so cool and so darn wearable that we're just giddy little fashion kids over here. And we invite you to get on board already à la two of my all-time favorite fashion girls and trend "Mix Masters," Alyssa Coscarelli and Ashley Brooke.

These NYC-based influencers serve up the best looks season after season, so it only felt right to pick their brains on how they're mixing and matching fall trends right now. These six outfits—which, by the way, they styled at Bloomingdale's—will definitely make a statement and earn you plenty of compliments to boot, so if that's not your thing, please stop reading immediately. Otherwise, these two are serving up some major fall trend knowledge we'd personally file under "replicate immediately."

As an editor turned downtown-cool-girl fashion guru, Coscarelli has a distinct style (vintage-inspired and trend clashing, in her words) that's always worth a pause. Her outfits regularly make their way into our saved folders, and her F/W 19 looks are no exception. It's apparently her favorite season (although she notes she's 100% biased due to her October birthday), and she can't wait to return to her fall rituals: enjoying a latte at The Hideout—a cool chai café in LES (so sorry to disclose your hidden gem, Alyssa!)—and playing tourist with a walk around Central Park the minute the leaves change colors. But we know you're here for her amazing style, so please indulge…. Is your style more uptown or downtown? Definitely downtown! I've always felt more at home downtown, and my style reflects that—heavy on denim, oversize silhouettes, and full of personality. It's not too buttoned-up or prim-and-proper. What's the best way to pull off plaid without looking like a lumberjack? Opting for a silhouette that's more elevated than just an oversize button-down. Skip the flannel altogether in exchange for other plaid accents, like this oversized trench. I love that the print on the back is like a fun surprise when you turn around and walk away. What other prints would you pair with plaid or should it stand alone? I would absolutely pair a floral or animal print with a plaid, any day. What are your styling tips for wearing multiple neutrals together? Play with texture—I think the crisp feel of the trench, the texture of the leather pants, and the croc-effect bag all play really nicely together, and make the outfit feel rich and interesting despite the neutral color palette.

What are the go-to pieces you love to wear in the fall? You'll mostly find me in mom jeans and chunky knits (pictured here). Long-sleeve dresses and oversize outerwear are also in heavy rotation. I love a chunky boot, too. Where would you wear this particular outfit? This is pretty much my fall uniform, so you're likely to find me in a version of this on any given day. What sweater styles or trends are you into for fall? Statement knits featuring oversize patterns or lettering, oversize fits, and rainbow-bright color combinations. How do you pick out a novelty sweater that doesn't feel like it's meant to be at an ugly sweater party? Try to steer clear of any obvious tropes like reindeer, snowflakes, and snowmen.

What type of party is this look for? I'd wear this to my birthday party, likely at a cozy yet groovy bar like Short Stories on Bowery. A Polaroid camera would likely be involved. Who's your '80s style icon, and would she wear this dress?  I do like to think '80s Julia Roberts would wear this look. Do you tend to mix high and low price points? Absolutely; that's just what's realistic for me, and I hardly feel like myself when I'm wearing head-to-toe designer. I'm really into a quirky mixed-and-matched vibe, and you just don't get that from wearing entirely luxury. Don't get me wrong, I love splurging on designer pieces, but I always try to style in a high-low way that grounds any fancier pieces (like this dress) and makes them feel more laid-back.

Brooke's style leans a bit more eclectic (Carrie Bradshaw = her dream closet swap), incorporating delicate, romantic pieces and edgier ones too. This combination makes her fall style particularly worth watching, as seen in these outfits she put together highlighting three key seasonal trends: statement outerwear, leather, and animal prints. Where do you find inspiration for your outfits? I have an excessive amount of Pinterest boards I utilize almost every day. What's the first sign of fall? When I start getting looks for drinking my iced latte, I'll know it's officially fall. (Iced lattes year-round for me.) What about this coat makes it a great statement piece? I love the mixture of textures! It's casual but really cool. What are the best ways to wear denim-on-denim? Mixing different shades of denim, and playing with different textures and styles. Right now, I'm loving baggy '90s-inspired jeans.

What's the trick for pulling off leather pants? Treat them like you'd treat denim! Is wearing black and brown together officially no longer a faux pas? Even though my middle-school self wouldn't be caught dead wearing black and brown, I say go for it. That rule died long ago. What accessories make leather pants feel more polished versus edgy? I like the simplicity of a top-handle bag. There's something about the style that gives off a simple, almost vintage feel. I thought this outfit needed some gold hardware; that was the main reason I chose this one, and it also needed to be black to tie in with the shoes.

What's your favorite animal print for fall?  I'm loving a warm zebra print right now. How are you wearing this trend this year? I think if you're going to do animal print, you should go all out. I love animal-print denim, coats, and bold skirts. Because of this, I stick to neutral colors. What other patterns would you pair with an animal print, or should it stand alone? I'm always open to a mixed-print outfit. As long as one print is your standout and the other is more subtle, you're good to go no matter the print.

Looking for more incredible fall style must-haves? Head to Bloomingdale's for the best on-trend selection.

Can I wear gold & silver jewelry together?

Stitch Fix

The best thing about fashion? There are no rules. We don’t know who said “no” to mixing metals, but we like to dance to the beat of our own drum, especially since we look good doing it.

Here’s how to mix metals like a true mixing master.

How to Wear Statement Jewelry

FIND AN ANCHOR PIECE

Start with a mixed-metal piece of jewelry and half the work is already done. Add two to three more pieces that incorporate the same metals for an intentional look.

STICK WITH THE SAME AESTHETIC

When mixing metals, opt for jewelry in the same stylistic realm to create a cohesive look. For example, if you normally wear gold bangles, swap a couple of them for similarly-sized silver bangles.

HIGHLIGHT A UNIFYING COLOR

Combine different-metaled pieces featuring the same accent color—the accent color acts as a medium, tying it all together. Try it out with a gold-and-turquoise necklace coupled with a silver-and-turquoise bracelet.

Mixing metals goes beyond jewelry. Extend these tips to all your accessories and you’ll never have to worry about matching your shoes to the hardware on your bag again!

A Garage Reconversion into A Sleek Loft [Milan]

Oh we love a good conversion! And here, we have a stunning Milan loft, formerly an auto garage which was renovated by local architect Tommaso Fantoni of TomoArchitects into a trendy home with architectural details reflecting his client’s hobby for sailing. Ceilings were refitted with larch wood, floorboards with wide oak planks like those used for sailing boats, and the staircase carries a distinct propeller look. Keeping the original exposed brick, the home also features numerous archways throughout and the […]

30 Days of Outfits: September Edition

Stitch Fix

Like A Boss

They say dress for the job you want, and honestly, what could it hurt? September is a great time to re-think your work wardrobe. Chic Glen plaid trousers paired with soft-yet-fitted knits, earth-toned animal prints and feminine, all-business dresses that will pair beautifully with some new boots. Kick your commute up a notch with a classic trench coat and crossbody bag, and you (with the help of your Stylist) will be ready to take on the world.

Commit to Knits

Acquiring a new sweater (or 2, or 3!) is one of the fall season’s most important style scores. Luckily your Stylist has access to a season’s worth of knits that will take you from work to weekend while looking great. Almost every fall outfit, from leggings and a tee to a curve-skimming dress, could be improved upon with a cardigan—just the thing to add coziness or to finish a look. You’ll find them in fun prints, including ultra-feminine themes or on-trend big cats. When it comes to pullovers, stripes are here to stay—look for them in season-right earth tones in v-neck or crew neck styles.

Cozy Sporty Cute

Athlesiure’s moment is still going strong, and your Stylist is here for it. Pick a trend: animal prints, moto jackets, puffers—it’s now been rendered as deliciously comfortable as humanly possible by making it in soft knits, velours and other touchable fabrications. Choose a matching set of joggers and sweatshirt in a wild leopard print, a tank dress in soft jersey, or a cowl neck tunic, and tackle your day looking as good as you feel.

Season’s Best: Colors & Prints

As we’ve mentioned, this Fall is the ultimate time to take a walk on the wild side, and we’ve curated the best in every kind of animal print—from cheetah, leopard and zebra to sophisticated snake. And what’s more fall than plaid? Your Stylist can send all kinds, from Glen to tartan and everything in between, in a huge variety of fall colors. And speaking of color—this season’s shades are evocative of all things fall—earthy browns and beiges, rich golds and olives, and deep, bold berrys combine to evoke the freshest season yet.

Stay stylish all season long. Ask your Stylist for pieces that are just right for crisp days in your next Fix.

REVIEW & SWATCHES | Burberry Full Kisses

If there was ever a lipstick that I want to tell everyone "You've GOT to try this" it's this one. Trust me, there are plenty of lipstick formulas that come across my desk but very few I am as excited about sharing as Burberry's Full Kisses line which was sent to me as part of my partnership with Burberry. (SALE ALERT: Sephora's annual VIB sale runs this weekend from Nov 11-14 for 20% off, which these lipsticks are a part of, using code 20VIB.)

From opacity to ease of application to hydrating feel, it ticks off plenty of boxes as a favorite go-to lippy.

The packaging has a reflective gunmetal tube which twists the product up from the bottom. There is a good portion of the lipstick which is always visible so it's wise to take care when opening the cap not to scrape the product. I found the tip shape particularly interesting because it's almost like the tip of a highlighter which makes it extremely application-friendly since you can see where the lipstick edge is without any fancy arm contortioning.

I was sent three shades: Rose Apricot No. 521, Lilac No. 541, and Rosewood No. 533. All are a modern, glossy formula without any glitters or shimmers.

Rose Apricot No. 521 is a pastel creamsicle shade. Because it's quite bold, I would recommend it for those with lighter skintones for everyday wear but it is still very pretty as a statement lipstick. It translates gorgeously in photos as well.

You guys probably already know what a fan of purple lip products I am so Lilac No. 541 is totally up my alley. Particularly in the Fall time, it's a great pop of color since it matches both smokey and neutral eyes and it's especially pretty on those with yellow undertones.

You know how I love to save the best for last and Rosewood No. 533 is it! I bet you thought it would be Lilac which is what I assumed, but believe it or not this shade is even better! If there's one kind of lipstick I can't live without it is the holy grail MLBB (my lips but better) and I have officially found my new favorite.

This slightly warm coral-rose brightens my whole complexion and looks natural yet sophisticated. Yes it's not as exciting in photos, but trust me, this baby made me do a little happy dance as soon as it was on. A well-used product is a well-loved one. :)

You can find the entire Burberry Full Kisses line now at Sephora and Burberry for $30 apiece.

If you are stocking up on a few favorites or gifts during the VIB sale, I highly recommend trying it out especially Rosewood No. 533 for an opaque, hydrating MLBB which will work across many seasons and skintones.
